Longlisted: Dorothy Dunnett Historical Writers’ Association Short Story Award 2025 ‘Foie Gras for Two’

This short story was inspired by a landmark in Liverpool, which I know well as I grew up in Liverpool. The story has dual narrators; it switches between a child’s viewpoint, and that of an adult man, arriving on a date with his girlfriend. Over a meal at a fancy restaurant, under the dimmed lights, their two worlds dramatically collide.
