Highly Commended/HWA Short Story Competition 2023

It was such a thrill to be Highly Commended for the Dorothy Dunnett Society/Historical Writers’ Association Short Story Competition 2023. All the shortlisted writers were invited to attend the HWA Crown Awards 2023 event at the Crypt on the Green in Clerkenwell on Wednesday 22 November, where we were presented with our certificates and copies of the prize anthology.

Events such as these are a brilliant way to meet other writers, and also to connect with the organisers of the competition. The winner was Jo Tiddy, and my fellow shortlistees were Anne Byrne, Louise Morrish, Josie Turner, and Cheryl Burman. It was also great to meet the HWA Chair, Imogen Robertson, and Betty Moxon, Chair of the Dorothy Dunnett Society.
